The red poppy and “In Flanders Fields” by John McRae are Canada’s most beloved elements of Remembrance Day. On November 11th each year, we remember our veterans and honour their sacrifices. Here is a new-old presentation for your school choir or ensemble. Once you hear it, you’ll always sing it this way!
This refreshing vocal presentation of “In Flanders Fields” is set in the traditional folk song “Greensleeves”, adapted and arranged by Adele Simmons (SOCAN), with piano score by Joy Brown. Youth and men’s choirs have performed it in Durham Region, and Adele’s performances have aired on national television and radio. Two years ago, the Mayor of Toronto and Ontario’s Lt. Governor used Adele’s rendition as part of their Remembrance Day Ceremonies at Nathan Phillips Square, aired by CBC Radio One.
Wherever sung, it has been greatly praised! Will you consider it for your singers?
